Airborne Mapping & Surveying

With aircraft and sensors stationed on all five continents, Fugro provides airborne surveying and mapping capabilities anywhere in the world.

GeoSAR radar mapping - Fugro owns and operates GeoSAR, a unique airborne radar mapping system that penetrates both clouds and foliage for production of highly detailed imagery and 3D elevation data. For more information visit www.geosar.com.

  • Operating day or night and in almost any weather condition

  • Single-pass interferometric synthetic aperture radar technology (InSAR)

  • Maps areas previously considered inaccessible due to permanent cloud cover, dense vegetation, or rugged terrain.

  • Deliverables include: X-band and P-band orthorectified radar images and DEMs, derived products such as land cover, forest biomass, and 1:25000-scale topographic maps.

Digital Photogrammetry - Fugro operates multiple large-format digital cameras and efficient processing methods to deliver accurate photogrammetric products, including:

  • Equipped with Leica ADS40/80, Zeiss DMS, Microsoft UlatraCam Xp, and PanoramiX A3 digital cameras

  • Meet internationally recognized accuracy standards at scales ranging from 1:500 to 1:24000

  • Deliverables: orthoimagery, oblique imagery, digital elevation models, contours, planimetric and topographic data, as well as land-use/land-cover and impervious surfaces data.

Lidar - Fugro operates multiple airborne Lidar sensors to provide a full complement of solutions that meet customer needs for fast and accurate elevation data over large areas;

  • Applications include topographic mapping, floodplain mapping, forestry, infrastructure development, and 3D urban modelling.

  • Deliverables include: Lidar DEMs, both reflective-surface and bare-earth DEMs with a nominal post spacing of 1 m to 5 m, contours supplemented with breaklines, land-use/land-cover, and intensity imagery.

Corridor mapping - Fugro’s FLI-MAP system provides project managers and engineers with a practical, safe, and fast solution for gathering survey data for any type of corridor.

  • Helicopter based corridor mapping for railways, highways, powerlines, and pipelines

  • FLI-MAP’s lidar and digital imaging capability delivers detailed information, without the need to deploy surveyors on the ground.

  • Deliverables include detailed topographic and planimetric data that can be easily imported into most GIS or engineering application software including PLS-CADD™, TLCADD™ or PoleCAD™.
